Citizen Clinics

The Douglasville Police Department offers a Handgun Clinic the first Thursday of each month.

Citizens are encouraged to attend to learn about Georgia firearm laws, safety, handling, and marksmanship.  Attendees are given the opportunity to shoot in the Police Department indoor firing range with certified firearms instructors.

Admission is free and participants must be 18 years of age and pass a background check.

For further information, please call Lt. Mark Edwards at (678) 293–1677.

The Douglasville Citizens Police Academy

The Douglasville Citizens Police Academy is a ten week program that offers the opportunity to learn about all divisions of the police department.

The classes meet once a week and address topics such as Investigations, Patrol, SWAT, K-9, Special Operations, and Crime Scene.  The classes are hands on and taught by police officers.  We encourage citizens to sign up to get a firsthand look at police operations.

For more information, please contact Lt. Mark Edwards at (678) 293-1677.
