Overnight, Daytime Lane Closures on I-20 Westbound in Douglas County for Resurfacing

Additional lane closures scheduled for I-20 from Georgia DOT...

WHAT: Georgia Department of Transportation contractors will close westbound lanes on I-20 for resurfacing activities. These activities are needed to improve the deteriorating condition of the roadway. Motorists should expect traffic delays.

Weather permitting, these are the scheduled lane closures beginning Friday, June 14 through Monday, June 17 at various locations in the project area:

The left lane and left shoulder lane will be closed each night from 7:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. the following afternoons;
and the center lane will be closed each night from 10:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m. the following mornings.

WHERE: I-20 westbound between Sweetwater Creek and SR 5/Bill Arp Rd (exit 34)

Lane closures are needed to help ensure safety for drivers and workers, as large equipment and frequent truck movements are needed on-site for these activities. Motorists traveling in the area are reminded to reduce their speeds while traveling through the work zone. As always, Georgia DOT encourages motorists to wear seat belts, eliminate distractions behind the wheel, and plan their routes before getting on the road by calling 511 for real-time information on work status and traffic conditions.
