2025 Municipal General Election
Our next election will be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, for Councilmembers Ward 1, Ward 2 Post 1, Ward 3 Post 1, Ward 3 Post 2.
Persons wishing to qualify as candidates in this election may do so from Monday, August 18, 2025, through and including Wednesday, August 20, 2025, from 9 AM until 12 PM and from 1 PM until 4:30 PM each day in the office of the City Clerk in City Hall located at 6695 Church Street.
Write-In Candidates
Georgia does allow for write-in candidates, but they also have to qualify in order to be eligible to receive votes. Write-in candidates must file a written intention of candidacy(PDF, 67KB) with the municipal election superintendent and publish a notice in the “official gazette of the municipality” no earlier than January 1 of the year in which the election is to be held and no later than seven (7) days after the closing of the regular qualifying period (O.C.G.A. § 21-2-133).

Overview
Municipal elections for Mayor and City Council are held and conducted in accordance with Chapter 2 of Title 21 of the O.C.G.A., the Georgia Election Code.
The City of Douglasville Municipal Elections are nonpartisan and are held without primaries.
Our Municipal general elections are held in odd-numbered years (every other year) as follows.

2025 General Election
The 2025 General Election for the City of Douglasville, Georgia will be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2025. The offices to be elected are Councilmembers for:
- Ward 1
- Ward 2 Post 1
- Ward 3 Post 1
- Ward 3 Post 2
Persons desiring to qualify as candidates in this election may do so on Monday, August 18, 2025, through Wednesday, August 20, 2025,
from 9 AM until 12 PM and from 1 PM until 4:30 PM each day in the office of the City Clerk in City Hall located at 6695 Church Street.
Each person desiring to qualify must submit a Candidacy Affidavit for the position sought and pay the appropriate qualifying fee for the position:
$387.00 for the office of Councilmember
Residents of the City of Douglasville wishing to vote in the November 4, 2025 election but who are not registered electors of the City, may register to vote through October 6, 2025.

2025 General Election
The General Election for the City of Douglasville, Georgia will be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at the following polling places:
1. Precinct 729 – Charles F. Golden United Methodist Church located at 6903 W. Forrest Avenue,
2. Precinct 730 – The Old Douglas County Courthouse located at 6754 W. Church Street,
3. Precinct 732 – Stewart Middle School located at 8138 Malone Street,
4. Precinct 733 – Arbor Station Elementary School located at 9999 Parkway South,
5. Precinct 734 - Bright Star Methodist Church located at 3715 Bright Star Road,
6. Precinct 737 – Chestnut Log Middle School located at 2544 Pope Road,
7. Precinct 740 – St. Theresa Catholic Church located at 4401 Prestley Mill Road,
8. Precinct 1259 – Winston Elementary School located at 7465 Georgia Highway 78,
9. Precinct 1273 – Turner Middle School located at 7101 Jr. High Drive, and
10. Precinct 1275 – Lithia Springs High School located at 2520 East County Line Road.
The hours for voting shall be 7:00 am to 7:00 pm. The offices to be elected are Councilmember Ward 1; Councilmember Ward 2, Post 1; Councilmember Ward 3, Post 1; and Councilmember Ward 3, Post 2.
Residents of the City of Douglasville wishing to vote in the November 4, 2025 election but who are not registered electors of the City, may register to vote through October 6, 2025.
Absentee by mail and Advance Voting in Person will start Tuesday, October 14, 2025, and will conclude on Friday, October 31, 2025, at the Voter Registrar’s Office, first floor, Douglas County Courthouse, 8700 Hospital Drive, between the hours of 9:00 am and 5:00 pm each day. Voters can start submitting their applications for an absentee ballot on August 18, 2025 through October 24, 2025.
Run-off Election Date will be Tuesday, December 2, 2025, should one occur.

Precinct Changes
In 2018, there were precinct changes(PDF, 59KB) implemented by the Douglas County Board of Elections and Registration. These changes consolidated precincts so city residents no longer have to vote at multiple locations. If you have questions about your precinct voting location, please visit www.mvp.sos.ga.gov.
