International Day of the Girl is an international observance day declared by the United Nations. It is also called the Day of Girls. The observation supports more opportunities for girls and increased awareness of gender inequality, faced by girls worldwide. The theme for this year is “Digital Generation. Our Generation.”
There will be break out sessions and discussion to include: yoga, dance, volunteering, online exploitation, and business etiquette/interviewing. All participants must register online. Registration is also open to youth organizations, churches or schools in Douglas and Carroll County.
This event is FREE, but registration is required.
Donations of the following will also be accepted: Packages of Always, Individually Packaged Sanitary Wipes, Stay Free Sanitary Pads (Tampax or Kotex brands), Bottles of Hydrogen Peroxide, Individual bottles of hand wipes. If attending as a group, one chaperone must attend for every 10 girls. Attendees must also dress appropriately and comfortably.
