Keep Douglasville Beautiful is hosting our first ever Earth Day Art Contest! This year, our theme is "Planet vs. Plastics," inviting students from elementary, middle, and high schools to creatively express the health risks and environmental impact of plastics on our planet. We're excited to see how young minds interpret and raise awareness about this critical issue. Each category winner—Elementary, Middle, and High School—will receive a $100 cash prize, and the overall winner will be featured in Chapel Hill News & Views. Submissions can be made through any medium, whether physical or digital. For physical submissions, artwork can be mailed or dropped off at KDB, while digital submissions can be uploaded to this Dropbox folder. Additionally, there will be an exhibit of submissions at our Recreation & Brunch Event - Earth Day Edition on April 20th from 11 am - 2 pm at the Douglasville Town Green. Participants and families are encouraged to attend and celebrate the creativity and dedication of our young artists!
The Clean Street Showdown is an inaugural competition Keep Douglasville Beautiful will host as part of the Great American Cleanup this year.
Our existing Adopt-A-Road organizations will engage in a friendly competition to see which organization can pick up the most litter. Organizations can pick up litter along their section of adopted road and submit their Post-Cleanup forms to receive credit.
The competition officially begins on March 1st, coinciding with the kickoff of the Great American Cleanup.
This isn't a single event but rather an ongoing initiative that runs until April 19th.
On April 20th, at the Douglasville Parks Recreation & Brunch Event, we'll proudly recognize the top three organizations with sustainably sourced trophies crafted by a talented local artist.
