A “Hometown Hero” celebration is being planned for Douglasville Native Megan Danielle, who advanced to the Top 3 in the ‘American Idol’ finals on Sunday.
Douglas County Government and the City of Douglasville, in partnership with the Douglas County School System, are collaborating on a day full of celebratory events on Tuesday, May 16 in recognition of Danielle’s achievements on the national stage.
The celebration will kick off at 2:30 PM with a parade on Church Street between Club Dr. and Price Ave. in downtown Douglasville, followed by a pep rally and city/county proclamations on O’Neal Plaza.
The evening will culminate with a concert headlined by Megan Danielle at her alma mater Douglas County High School. The show begins at 7:30 p.m.
All events are free and open to the public. Entrance to the concert will be available on a first-come, first-served basis until capacity is reached. For everyone's safety, please be aware that all attendees of the concert will need to go through security before entering the stadium. This will involve passing through a metal detector and being subject to a wand inspection. No weapons will be allowed, and all bags must be clear plastic.
Footage from the day’s events will be featured in a hometown video story to be aired during the show’s finale on Sunday, May 21.
